Exebug?
« on: February 09, 2003, 02:31:04 PM »
A friend's machine running Win98 fails to boot.
I have tried a fresh hard drive, but cannot run fdisk, which reports "no hard drive".
It sounds like exebug or something similar, as the BIOS intermittently reports no hard drives.
Any suggestions, and also, is there a DOS bootable version of Avast available?
 ???

Thanks Raman, I think you are right! It's now shut down for keeps...
It's a pretty new Western Digital 20GB.
The diagnostics provided on their web site couldn't finger any faults.
Have you noticed that the Disk Manager/Ontrack utilities are no longer free?

WD offers three years warranty, if i remember correct. So it should not be a problem to change the Hardisk. I think diskmanager are not needed anymore. Normally the actual computers should be able to handle 20 GB HDs. And if not, you should think of buying a new PC!:)
