Web protection 4.6 - 763
« on: February 23, 2006, 01:58:00 PM »
Hi all users & experts
here I`m again with a question- because I´m new  ???

When I opened the "avast! On-Access Scanner /Details/ WEB- Protection" - I was surprised that the program "tells" me:

Numbers checked= 0
numbers infected= 0

How can it be, that whil I´m surfing to several websites and downloading some files, the program did not checked (= 0)
any files.
Note: the provider is not on "Stop".

Have a nice day
Uwe

It seems that your WebShield is turned off...
Is the first option, that enables the scanning turned on?
Do you use any local proxy application, like an annonimizer?
The best things in life are free.

I´m in a local network (using a high speed internet access with a few other people, I think, there might be central fire wall)- is this important?- If Yes, than I´ll ask the administrator. I think its not a proxy.
In addition I use "zone alarm" firewall- but i just did make sure, that the zone alarm is in a right configuration to use avast!
My mail protection (checking incoming and outgoing e- Mails) while using opera, is working very well.

For Windows 9x, you have to manually configure the browser proxy, as described here.

:D
Thanx again....
I configured my proxy... and now the web shield is working,
and my slow RAM (125 MB) becomes slower... :-\
Really good support here!
May be I´ll come again....there might be questions in the future.
