Avast anti theft doesnt turn on GPS

Hi guys

as the title states, if I have GPS turned off on my phone can Avast anti theft turn on the GPS to locate it on map?

I have tried everything and no matter what it just says unable to locate your device.

however If i turn on the GPS myself and then use the locate device it instantly finds it... THis is no good if I loose my phone with GPS turned off, Avast needs to be able to turn it on for me... can it do this or not?

I'm hoping it can.. if so what am I doing wrong?

ok... well that's not good.... is there any Anti Theft that allow LBS/GPS enable remotely ?

I dont always ahve it tured on and this is a big issue for me

I would have thought that the anti-theft function should be able to enable GPS. If it can't it kind of reduces the point of having the anti-theft if it can't turn on GPS to report your location.

Are there any codes that can be sent to the phone from the my.avast.com account that can enable the GPS to report its position ?

It can't be turned on remotely as Google has disabled the ability to enable GPS without user interaction.

However with certain phones it seem to be possible to enable it remotely if the manufacturer has installed system app for it.
E.G. Samsung has a phone-finder website. (https://findmymobile.samsung.com/)

I generally don't have Location (GPS) enabled because of all of the google tracking and cr4p. I only enable it when I absolutely need it otherwise it is off.

Yes, it was an option on Android versions up to 4.1, afaik.
It's still possible on newer versions, but only on rooted devices.

That too is an issue as almost all new phones if you root them, the warranty goes out the window.

The real problem is, that we didn't get an update for AAT since October 2016.

WTF? This AAT SUX, in other version the gps turn on when the command of the web LOCATE is send but now the command not work in android 6 or android 7.-
why happend withe the update of AAT? i go tried other program anti thefht cerberus prey or devie manager

You can't blame avast (AAT) for something that Google disabled.

If I disable Google because in its own application it works?
first update AAT this program is obsolet since october 2016

As far I know, the GPS interface was removed by Google, i.e., you can't enable/disable GPS from 3rd party apps.

Douglas, it doesn't matter what you do.
It will not work as it is not possible on a standard Android version as Google has the option removed.

Only thing you can do is rooting the phone or talk to Google and hope they will bring the option back (very unlikely)

I don't believe the GPS 'interface' as such was removed, but they Google removed the ability to switch it on remotely on recent Android versions (as the anti-theft used to do).

GPS is still available on a number of apps but the user has to give permission to use GPS, it isn't allowed to be done remotely.
