Hello,

thanks Tech for this quick answer. I just want some precisions about :

Quote
Besides the possibility of NAV trashes are blocking a good avast installation, I do recommend the uninstallation, boot, use the avast unistall tool, boot and install again.

Can you please confirm :

Step 1 : uninstallation : avast standard uninstall  ???

Step 2 : boot => hum, this doesn't need further explanation  ;D

Step 3 : use the avast uninstall tool.   ::) I've seen it in the download section

Step 4 : boot    ;D

Step 5 : Install Avast again

I'll try to do this by today evening and post my results after.

bearmed : If you prefer, i can create my own topic , I just post here as it seems to me that we have the same issue with Avast and Internet access.

I don't have issue with mails.

I'm using Internet Explorer and Outlook (not Outlook express)

Sorry to be so 'technical' in my language  :-[
Yes, I mean the standard uninstall through Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

Step 3 : use the avast uninstall tool.   ::) I've seen it in the download section
Exactly: Avast Uninstall

If you prefer, i can create my own topic , I just post here as it seems to me that we have the same issue with Avast and Internet access.
Maybe it will be better  ;)

when avast! Web Shield is working, no web browsing is possible

Activate logging in WebShield:
1. Edit <avast>\data\avast4.ini file
2. Find the section [WebScanner]
3. Add the line:
    EnableLogging=1
4. Restart Web Shield in XP (terminate and start again) or whole PC in case of Win98
5. Browse (trying to access some webpages)

The log file are <avast>\data\log\ashwebsv.log and ashwebsv.ws.
They would be accessible when WebShield is terminated again.
Post them here or send by mail to rypacek (at) asw.cz
After that, disable the logging to avoid a big log file.

when Internet Mail Shield is working, no receiving/sending mail is possible.
Maybe you can:
Add the following line to the [MailScanner] section of <avast>\data\avast4.ini:

Log=20

Then generate some traffic, simulate the problem (i.e. force the avast mail scanner to time out by sending an email with attachment) and then post here the contents of the file <avast>\data\log\aswMaiSv.log (or the last lines of it).
