WinPatrol WinAntiRansom Plus
« on: January 30, 2017, 01:57:43 AM »
I use WinPatrol WAR in addition to Avast Pro. I wonder if it will be necessary once Avast completes the integration of the behavior analysis component? I'm not even certain if it's necessary without the integration. The reason I ask is that I don't care to add a bunch of different layers if I don't need to. It saves time from having to figure out why something quirky is happening. I have spent hours and hours trying different software and at the same time spent hours trying to diagnose problems. I'm just not much into the whole trial and error effort anymore.  Also, each time I try to install software without turning off WAR it shows me a warning, something like, "Performed a Ransomware/Malware like action. (###)", which gets annoying.

I would like your opinion on this.
Thanks

Hi Criostoir :)

I can tell you that in the upcomming AV-Comparatives Anti-Ransomware test Avast performs very well :

- 95+% in both on/offline sample detection.
- 100% in on-execution detection.

I use WinPatrol as a convenient tool, not really a security one nowadays. It allows me to manage startup items and services... But on security, what is it really adding to Avast?
Misunderstand the product. Sorry  ::)

Hi Tech,
This is WinPatrol AntiRansom Plus not WinPatrol.

Here is a good channel to view testing.

Thank you Red. I look forward to reading all about it. I already know of one ransomware that the Avast beta blocked via behavior analysis.

Hi Criostoir :)

Last week we had a presentation from the guys of AV-Comparatives, that's how I know.
They tested against 200 Ransomwares.
When they are going to publish it, I don't know.
