ads on avast app for phone
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:28:19 PM »
Just thought it was rather poor judgement for a antivirus app to have an ad that states i have 637 viruses on my phone and to click on ad to fix them. WTF so my avast app has missed 637 viruses if so why do i bother even having avast if it is so lousy at protecting me. LOL

More details and a screenshot could/would help.

On a note, I never seen or heard of a virus for a phone.
Malware, yes.
Virus, no.

Its was an ad that was on the app the free avast phone app. I know it was click bait but thought it was funny for such an ad to show up on a on avast app

I guess you did see a fake alert

All avast popups will have avast logo / name. From where did you download avast app?

There are ads in the avast mobile security and these aren't necessarily from avast, but from an ad service.

I suspect the same may well be the case for many web ad services getting malvertising (ad poisoning) an ad leading to malware.
