AVG Info and some Questions
« on: February 04, 2017, 05:48:51 PM »
Hi all

Here is an Info from RejZoR from this Forum see post 37

https://malwaretips.com/threads/avg-2017-product-line-released.67414/page-2

After chatting with avast! team in Prague, there is quite a lot more of AVG left, but isn't visible on the outside. There is still AVG's script emulator for file scanning, they also merged pattern matching, combining best of both worlds from avast! and AVG. avast! had a huge edge in speed department where AVG had an edge in detection engine flexibility. Now, both have best capabilities of both. They also consolidated both AV databases into one. So, quite a lot of stuff done in few months they had since the merger and I'm looking forward for new AV-C and AV-Test tests to see how improvements translate to actual protection. Should be interesting, specially in the real-world test front...

Any Infos when will you release a new AVG Version

When will you release one Programm with Avast and AVG Engines

With best Regards

Ah okay thank you very much for your Infos

Is it better for wait for the Programm with the 2 Engines

zfactor said this see post nr 82 in this forum

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avg-antivirus-from-avast-beta-final-thread.390541/page-4

they will soon be fully merged to one product, so anything they will in the end be keeping will remain. i do not believe every last thing from avg will remain, but everything important will.

I see little point in waiting as whichever one you use right now, will still have benefits over the old version of the same application.

You can't try to convert all if the hundreds of millions of Avast and AVG users to a completely new program, you would be bound to upset many of your existing client bases.

Much of these changes will be smoothly merged over time that most people wouldn't notice other than improved protection. What has been done so far in the beta versions of both programs.

I don't work for avast either, but I have been using it and helping on these forums for almost 13 years.

There has been some general information, which basically indicates that the complete merge into to one product can't be rushed as people are fans of their own anti-virus. So slowly, slowly and people will see the power of the combined tools/protection before it would be wise to combine into one product.

it will be a very slow process as to not upset avg users. they have to carefully handle it. otherwise they will piss off many users. imo prob 2018 or 2019 even. you can see the post on wilders was edited because i think soon was to rushed of a word. at first they will have to let the avg users know it will be avg "by" avast or something like that. this way users of avg know its avast behind the avg product. then eventually they can begin to merge products.
