Is there somewhere a help page which explain what programs/services to allow outbound for Avast 2017 to work properly?

iWith so many bots and evangelists, I am surprised that this question is to difficult for this forum to answer?

What a bummer.....

I updated to the latest version but when I open the UI it remains blank.
I use Windows 10 64 bit fully updated.

How to install:
1. Update from your existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program

After clicking on settings there is no Update section anywhere to be found.
Where exactly is it?
I even clicked on show advanced settings and still no Update section.

Why not try, right click on the avast tray icon and select Update.

I have two news regarding UI.
First... UI in lower resolutions should be OK from 17.2. UI won't be bigger than your desktop, so you will see everything, but it won't be resizable by user, it will decide automatically.
Second... non working UI in some cases (seen reported here few times). We improved library responsible for downloading UI packages, so when your files will look damaged/not up to date, they will be downloaded again.

Whilst that is welcome news, I honestly can't see the reluctance to allow the UI to be resized according to the users requirements. Some may well have large screens, but don't particularly like large user interfaces.

I normally set them as small as required to see the content I'm viewing, so when I open it it isn't completely covering what else I have open.

Where is the safezone browser in the new GUI? I can't find it after this new update!

I would be happy if someone could help.

Executing safezone browser is not in GUI. To start default mode of safezone browser, you can use desktop icon, switching to bank mode is done automaticaly for bank sites, or you can do it by the help of "Turn Bank Mode On" icon from default mode. Additionally there is an tray-icon menu, where you can "Run Bank Mode" directly.

Avast free updated via automatic. I really not even noticed.

My pc works fine. (Vista 32 - Comodo Firewall - Firefox 51.0.1 32bit - Win def and fw disabled)

I've got same bug about click details after smart scan (scan restart) and also i have not Avast sounds anymore. Sometimes GUI does not refresh correctly. Can not resize it. UI slow to load...

I'll wait some day then i'll try a clean install.

...and i lost old settings :(

Ok My Formal Review of Avast 2017 now that's finally on my 8 Core based AMD System

For Starters is a little slow loading at startup, keep in mind was update from GUI  install from 12.3.2280,  Interface opening is quick, uninstall Game Mode Component, overall liking it though, no other issues noticed, just slight slow down on system bootup, might try clean install maybe at some point here.   Windows 10 Pro 64bit, with minimum amount of startup items currently loading.

Gaming wise no performance issues noticed

Webbrowsing nice and fast

Email app no issues

overall came out a lot better than I thought it would so far.

If a Clean install is recommended, I am willing to do one

On Windows 10 the New Avast(17.1.2286) Settings are sometimes inaccessible as they are at the bottom left and it is necessary to hide the taskbar to access them. There seems to be no option to reduce the Avast  window.
Hi, you can resize the settings window.
Yes - but accessing the Settings window is the problem as I have described.

Avast has already acknowledged the problem and it will be fixed with the next version  update.

I just updated to the latest Avast (version 17.1.2286 - Build 17.13394.0).  Now and ONLY since the Avast update there are many xsl files that will not open.  I just get a message that says cannot access the file I am trying to open.  All of this is being done on an antique windows xp machine running MS Office 2003.  I even mounted the back up image I have and copied an excel file I needed off of that one which was created before the Avast update and pasted it over the top of the one residing on C drive.  It worked a couple times and the file opened just fine.  Then after about the 3rd try it also threw the same "cannot open file" message.  That is why I think it has everything to do with the Avast update.  Maybe the new "behavior" component.  I don't know.  I tried just turning that one component off, but the xsl file still would not open.
Can anybody shed any light on this at all.  I am running a business from this machine and cannot afford to lose all my MS Office files. HELP !!!!!

Right click the Avast tray icon select Avast Shield Control and turn them off for 10 minutes. see if that gives you access.
Report back. :)

Cant see any other reference in thread above but bug in UI re Software Updater/ Database Reset (troubleshooting) the Reset button below is there but is completely invisable.
Having problems with updating Skype I have 104 installed but Software Updater says latest version is old 103. Reset of database does nothing to fix.
Also if you click teh see whats new link, then you got to Skype website in that window and there is no way back. Have to close Avast UI and go in again.

Yes - Thanks! That works - but I still think the Settings link in the main window is badly positioned.

Wait for the next release. It should be addressed and fixed by then.
