OK, updated over previous beta and found settings window is now a bit smaller ;D
The OK and Cancel button barely fit my 1366x768 display, nice.
Side note, you can resize the settings windows now. ;)
Great, good to know 8)

BTW now I have a trouble updating over previous release build on my Vista machine, will post some details...

I had to use a system recovery point from yesterday after updating.
Windows refused to boot, only showed a generic error screen ":( Windows found an error, please restart your PC".
Can't say much else, because that's all I got.

Windows 10 Professional 64 bit.

Updated via the GUI, restarted and no issues so far.

There are some translations missing in the German version (our team will report them seperately) later on.

As usual we prepared some translated release notes on 17.1.2286 for our German customers here.
Feel welcome to also visit the German Avast Community Forums for support and discussions with other security specialists as well as beginners!

Updated via the GUI, and indeed you have to re-enable PUP detection again.

Greetz, Red.

About the purple GUI we have said enough in Prague. I will keep my mouth shut now.

I upgraded from Avast Internet Security (Previous Version) to this version and the only setting that was changed was Scan for PUP's. I had to re enable it, but other than that there was no problem.

What Shield did you have to turn on scan for PUP's I was running the previous beta 2286, installed over 12.3.2280 and updated from the UI to the regular release 17.1.2286 and scan for PUPs was still enabled on the File Shield.

The Web Shield was set to scan PUPs but that is the default setting.

"NEW: Avast Beta 17.1.2286"

Confusing for users.
Beta and final with the same build number :-\

It is intentional. We release exactly same build to release update channel once it soaked in beta channel. That, we believe, should improve quality in release update channel. And because these are exactly same binaries (you can bitwise compare them - no new build, just what is in beta become release) thus you see exactly same version number.

Updated over previous release build (12.1.2276) and my Vista machine froze after updating avast.
Had to force shutdown (manually initiate CrashDump) and rebooted. Got a black screen.
Ctrl + Alt + Del worked, so I rebooted my machine again and now working fine so far.

If do some of the devs want CrashDump after updating (Kernel dump) I'll upload it to avast FTP.

I just updated to the new version. I noticed it installed avast! Identity Protection Service. I cannot see where I can disable this. I do not want Identity Protection on my computer. If it cannot be disabled could you please let me know how I can revert back to the previous version.

You can uninstall it via Settings - Components (Behavior Shield). I advise you keep it. It's strong protection against ransomware and other malware.

Updated fine so far,had to tick pups box again as others had to do.

Is there still no way to see in real time what files avast is scanning ?   miss that from a previous build.

Are you sure Identity Protection Service is related to the Behavior Shield?
It seems that should rather be associated with:
- Web Shield
- SafeZone Browser
- Security Browser Extension
- SecureLine VPN
I ask, because I only use the File Shield + Behavior Shield and I do not want any unnecessary system services.

Yes, I am fairly sure about it. Developers might want to confirm.

EDIT: Wanted to merge with above message but instead posted new reply. Sorry.
