Does disabling Avast Game Mode reduce the security?

I don't like the new avast Game Mode. Does disabling it reduce the security?

Game Mode is just an additional feature which doesn't hinder your overall protection if disabled. Also, avast! already has a logic to suppress popups during gaming, but it doesn't suspend scheduled scans or other tasks. Game mode also covers this.

If you don't fancy it, you can disable/remove it without any protection disadvantage.
