I miss the voice telling me my virus definitions have been updated.  Could we get this feature back again, please?

Thank you for considering.

I'm using my laptop at the moment, which doesn't have the latest avast version installed, but I believe it is in the same location. AvastUI > Settings > General - Scroll down and see if the option is checked.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

G'day David,

I believe this feature has been removed from the latest build.   :(

Thanks.

This feature has been gone since Avast 9.

I would also like to see this feature back or at least the notification of a VPS update.

Well there you go.  I admit I haven't tried avast since v6, or maybe v 7, so I'm not up to speed.  Still, I liked the "your virus definitions have been updated" voice.  Nice to hear if I'm not sitting at the machine when it is updated.

It obviously isn't an important feature but it is one that made Avast unique.  I'd prefer its return rather than seeing an animated systray icon, but hey, what ever the flock prefer.

Edit  -  This is my last try of avast:

If it has been removed, someone wants to bloody remove it from the Settings > Sounds section of the interface,

Worse, it appears not to even give a popup when updates are installed now.

It hasn't given notifications of VPS updates since v9 either.

avast! now receives special Streaming Updates every 3 minutes. Would you like a voice for that every 3 minutes? That's the reason why it was removed. It would make no sense and it would just be annoying as hell.

What I suggested was bring it back for the VPS updates only. They happen usually 1-2 times a day. There should be a notification when VPS updates. The sound isn't really important but would be welcome.

We talked about that in Prague. On one hand, avast! advertises ~400 Streaming updates a day and then you'll notify users about only 2 cumulative updates a day. Wouldn't that confuse users?

Not really. Most users wouldn't know about the amount of streaming updates received. I just believe there should be an option for a notification of a VPS update. It can even be disabled by default but atleast give users the option.

I agree with RejZoR,  only give security related notice / error notice, if you see none of these then evrything is OK
