Recently, I had an unusual problem with Win98 shutting down properly and was looking into what could have been causing this to happen. I don't think I will ever know exactly what the problem was because I did a file search for "*.tmp" and deleted most of the temp files, which seemed to relieve the problem but left me clueless on exactly what was the problem to begin with. Probably excessive temp files on my machine but who knows.
