BSOD after updating. "HWEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR".
« on: February 16, 2017, 12:04:49 AM »
I'm getting "HWEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" after installing the lastest Avast via the GUI. Also after removing and re-installing I get this  "HWEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR".

It happens just before the Windows Login Screen.

I think when I will use the offline installer I will still get this error too, so I won't even bother trying it, getting tired of doing a System Restore all the time. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, I can do a couple of days without Anti-Virus.

You can't install a newer version through the GUI, only update a existing installation.

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Is there any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)

1. Windows 10 Anniversary 64-bit
2. Avast 12.3.2279 (2016-08-16) (upgrading to latest (which I guess is 17.1.2286 (2017-02-07)))
3. Only CCleaner and Windows Defender.

What I have done is upgrading, which caused a BSOD.
Uninstall, reboot, reinstall, which also caused a BSOD after rebooting just before the Windows Login Screen.

So my guess is that the offline installer will do the same.

How exactly did you uninstalled avast ?

Do you have (or had) e.g. Comodo installed ?

Well, avastclear doesn't remove everything.
Only a manual removal does.

I suggest to remove avast completely.
Do a thorough clean-up of the system and perform a true clean installation of the latest avast version.

I already did a complete removal from Avast uninstaller before I used AvastClear.

Sorry I have to be more clear, I used both, the uninstaller and AvastClear.

EDIT: I could upload the Minidump files...

What about it? You are not really helpful, I uninstalled and used AvastClear...

Followed your steps (reboot in save mode, uninstalled Avast, reboot again into save mode, run AvastClear) and followed your install instructions, installed with offline installer, still BSOD after reboot, just before the Windows Login Screen.

Not exactly my instructions but, in your case, the error refers to a driver incompatibility.

Hmmm don't think so, because it doesn't happen when Avast is not installed.
