Passwords
« on: February 21, 2017, 09:02:59 PM »
I have the latest version of Avast Internet Security on Windows 7, which I previously removed and reinstalled after a hardware change and backing up the settings and exporting Bookmarks and Passwords to a csv file.
After all of that and the reinstallation of the software, I was able to get most everything back up and running correctly, EXCEPT for ONE MAIN IMPORTANT THING!     :'( MY Passwords, as far as I can tell there isn't a mechanism available to restore the passwords!   :'( The more I use this Software, the more discouraged I become!

Someone please help!

avast is already working on the option to import from a CSV file.

Yes there is a way to recover the passwords, or in your case perhaps I should say was.
It is called synchronization.
If you had that enabled, you can easily restore the passwords.

I finally got them all back in using the create password tool and by copying, paste, cut, paste, cut, cut, paste, cut, cut paste, cut, cut, paste. I did that with every password, it took me a couple of hours, but I got it.
Thanks for your reply, just what would I be synchronizing with, because my problem was that my origonal installation wasn't communicating with the cloud, and Support told me I had to un-install and reinstall. Thank God that I made a backup of every thing. I'm communicating with the Avast Cloud now as my PC shows up online and is reporting the correct hardware and condition of my shields. How can I prevent this from happening again? Thanks!

Enabling synchronization should be enough.

And keep an eye out on updates.
As I said, avast is already working on the option to import from CSV.

Then you will have two ways to import the passwords again.
Always handy if for whatever reason one is not working.

There's no way I would trust any of my Personal info in Google or Facebook, would you?

avast Passwords has nothing to do with Google or Facebook.

Yeah, I see that now, I enabled Synchronization and it is synchronizing now.
Thanks for the help!
