Avast UI failed to load??!!
« on: February 22, 2017, 12:26:52 AM »
I am continually getting this message every time I try to run Avast so that I can run a scan. "This is really embarrassing but the UI is having a bad day"What's going on? Anyone know? While amusing, the message does NOT help resolve the problem.
Thanks, Peter

I am also getting this same message.

I have repeatedly tried repairing and reinstalling the software and will now try this beta version as directed.  That the software makes no effort to report this failure back to headquarters is a clear indication of poorly written software.
I have previously commented on this but nothing was ever done and now that is lost in the past.

As a user of Avast almost from its inception I am interested to see that I am described as a newbie.
Your failure to actually track users over the years is an indictment of your failures.  I have been on this email address since the early days!!

With 41 years in the Microcomputer field, both in hardware and software I have a fair understanding of this area.

So many weak points, so little time.............   SIGH.

I have now installed the latest Beta and this reacts in almost exactly the same way.

The difference being that it now refreshes itself to the front every 2 or 3 seconds so that nothing else can be done whilst it is running.

Ohhh, it did manage to show the very first screen on first running with the upgrade offer to the full version but I declined.  Avast would not be my most favoured programme at the moment.

I have now found the rest of the posts related to this problem and found the main problem :  The arrogance of the support community!

NO SECURITY TOOL PROTECTS A SYSTEM AGAINST THE STUPIDITY OF A USER OR THE ARROGANCE AND STUPIDITY OF THE SUPPORT STAFF.

The fact that I joined a thread which has the wrong advice in it and no-one has found it to correct it should be setting the alarm bells ringing but it obviously hasn't.

Super evangelist Eddy hasn't been here so the advice is wrong!!!

Having been read 1148 times because it comes up first on Google, 1148 people have the wrong solution!  334, 336 and 360 people have read the other posts with the right solution but MOST still have the WRONG solution...........

A simple aggregation bot going through and collating these postings would improve the USER experience no end!!!!

As I said with 41 years experience, I can see your problems.............

The arrogance of the support community!
Please, do not take it personally or, at least, do not generalize.
A lot of people here are going their time to free trying to help the others.

Back to the issue, I suggest an installation from scratch:

1. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall Utility and save it.
2. Download the latest Avast version and save it.
3. (Optional) If you want, save your Avast settings for later restoration (Settings > Maintenance > Back up).
4. Uninstall Avast from Control Panel (if possible) and reboot.
5. Run the Avast Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in and follow the instructions. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode, uninstall Avast and then reboot in Normal Mode again.
6. Install Avast using the setup saved on 2. Register your free copy or add the license key for the paid versions. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.

Please, be patient, boot when it's said to boot...

It does not work, no matter how many cycles of installation-cleanup-installation is done. It even failed in a VM i set up to test the same.

I am having this exact same problem except the UI message isn't coming up, my Avast is just a white box.

Hello dear users,

I was reading all your posts and from other forums...I had already faced that problem when I was using windows XP.

The message shown by Avast about UI (User Interface) crash is just about the environment where Avast Software is living...here I mean in your OS system!

Solution is given clearly: the environment I'm talking about has been occupied by an intruder software/framework/process...etc.

Let me give examples:

-Installing Sandboxie for example in an Avast running system;
-Users of keygens, cracks and patches to get full access privileges;
-Advanced hacking softwares in an Avast running system;

Analyse what's inside your OS and you'll find what to clean. It will take hours but this is the right way to control your machine.

Good luck !
