This was a scan from a few hours ago, around the time of my first post here :( And it found 'infected' files that probably arent infected at all, so now i don't really know what to do with it.

I have just now updated to new definitions - 170221-1 and they still report false positives. They just don't do it properly:
Unable to paste Image

PS: There's an error in your SIG. It currently reads:
NO SECURITY TOOL PROTECTS A SYSTEM AGAINST THE STUPIDITY OF A USER
That should be:
NO SYSTEM PROTECTS A USER AGAINST THE STUPIDITY OF A SECURITY TOOL
Avast detected too many infected files & started deleting them because it couldn't put them all in the Chest. I seem to have just lost a large number of treasured photos.

Anyone here installed Avast on a production server? Hows the server now? XD
There is no this problem with avast endpoint line (but some AfB users (cloud endpoint) report about it)

Please try through 20-30 minutes again to update VDB. Right number now is 170222

New VPS is 170222-00, 170221-01 is the one with the FP detection... Could you try updating again?

After you restore items from the virus chest do they continue to show up in there?

I tried to restore all 3k-ish files and used overwrite all, windows 10 asked me if i wanted to let avast makes changes to my system, i said yes.

All files are still showing as being in virus chest.

I am updated to 170222

it is NOT just Avast.....

Avast, AVG, Malware bites, Kaspersky, etc all showing up with same symptoms.
it is NOT your AV. it's a problem with java, or windows, or chrome
still researching

Not true. Malwarebytes is not detecting anything on my system (as opposed to 40+ files with avast), nor is Hitman Pro which uses the Kapersky engine. AVG is now owned by avast so if that is having detections then that is not surprising.

On the positive side I've just got the new VPS and my latest quick scan is clean. :)

I really dont know what to do here. I'm worried about putting things in the chest if theyre important files which a lot of them seem to be.

But it doesnt seem to want to let me do nothing and it's been like this for a few hours.

The new VPS (170222-00) should contain the fix. Can you (who are affected) try updating VPS and letting me know if there is still an issue or not?
Thanks Honza, I tried a manual update, not available here yet.
Just got the VPS update.

Edit: Seems the problem is fixed.

How do you stop files from being deleted on reboot? is it safe to simply uninstall avast?

Avast! By the time I got a detection I ran a boot time scan! After the scan it shows that I have over 4878 FILES INFECTED!!!

4673 OF THOSE FILES ARE PERSONAL PICTURES FROM LAST YEAR WHICH I HAVE NO BACK UP!!!

IT GOT PERMANENTLY DELETED BY AVAST!!!
