This update does not help with the hidden cancel scan button for smaller screen laptops!

Posting in multiple topics about the same issue doesn't help.

The GUI size is being addressed and that has been mentioned by avast in other posts.

The pause button still isn't present even in the latest avast version, it looks like this could be in the 17.3.xxxx.
that is it still hasn't been

Pause button reported in Reply #14 of this topic.

It's the current cancel button that I'm talking about not pause.

They were two different thread versions I posted in which helps those that use those versions, some folk just don't have the time searching through various threads as they often type in the version they use.

You would like to hope if they are using the previous version they would have noticed the problem. Not to mention the current default action on Program Updates is for them to be Automatically installed.

If they don't have time to go searching through various threads, what makes you think they would search and find that one.

Because that would be the one they were using of course.

Yes. It's best to create your own topic. It's not the case of getting ignored but rather posts getting missed in this thread.

Hi, Yesterday I submitted a problem to Avast support we're seeing with this new version, but I just received a reply from Avast stating they could not verify I'm using a paid version and told me to go to FAQ's or the forum.  Whether paid or not, this is a real problem.

I have 4 customers that have an issue logging into their bank site (www.tcfbank.com) .  I have a computer with an older version of Avast, tested on the bank site and works fine, but then I upgraded to 17.2.2288 and checked again - now I can no longer log into the bank, so this is a verified problem with this version.

The bank website is www.tcfbank.com.   Enter the user name and it won't progress to the next page for secret question or password, instead you get "page cannot be displayed" .  Disable the Web shield and the bank site works fine.   I found this problem in IE11, but may or may not happen in other browsers.
Avast alerted. Let's see if that gets you a reply. :)
Here's the reply I received from Avast:
He wasn’t served by any agent. Only the auto reply.
There is a form where even Free customers may report FP/and FP URLs - https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

I did an over the top install/upgrade and then restored my settings.
My daily custom scan does not kick off........I created new custom scan and scheduled.....does not auto-run at designated time.
Known issue ?

FIXED
OK....so found fix......
My old (imported from previous configs) custom daily scan item would not run as scheduled.....it would manually run but not with scheduler.
I create d NEW custom scan with same config and would not run on a schedule either.
Did repair and reboot new scan runs.....old one still does not.
Deleting old one...renaming new one as my daily scan.

I am still waiting for some fixes:

- Boot speed is still very low, compared to the previous version.
- Also with GUI load speed. It is not smooth. Still a bit low. (see attached file).
- Access to Avast User Account.
- Could it be possible to reduce the size of the main UI window? My screen resolution is 1366x768, and the UI window looks too big in my opinion.

I still believe that with a few more fixes, this new release of Avast will be great!

I've seen this mentioned before, but I just want to add my voice to the fact that avast! really needs to do something about the size if the UI screen. I have a 20-inch widescreen monitor and the bottom of the UI screen is still cut off.  Please make it smaller or resizable, something.

What other security software are you running ???
Clean Install of Avast:
https://goo.gl/4Ptzkf

The clean install instructions were what I was doing, with the exception of disconnecting from the internet. I tried installing Avast with the internet disconnected. It would not install properly and experienced multiple errors, so you should remove that suggestion from your instructions. It turned out the problem all along was Avast was being partially blocked by the Software Restriction Policy, something that never happened before. The solution was to create a New Path Rule within the Software Restriction Policy which allowed Avast to run unrestricted.

The instructions ask you to disconnect from the INTERNET after you had downloaded the needed files.
Once downloaded, INTERNET isn't needed again till after removal and install of Avast. It's need when you're ready to register your new install.
Nothing wrong with the instructions. :)
