1. What is Metadefender Email Security Cloud?

Metadefender Email Security Cloud (MESC) is a free online service provided by OPSWAT for you to scan and sanitize suspicious emails and email attachments.

2. How do I use MESC?

Simply forward any email to sanitize-beta@metadefender.com to run a comprehensive email threat scan. After the scan, you will receive an email reply with the scan result as well as the regenerated, sanitized copy of any email attachments.

As you probably know I'm a trusting sort (NOT), so I probably wouldn't trust them with my data (email address, etc.) even though it is opswat.

So I use a paid option that pulls down a small portion of the email (form my email servers) and analyses them, generally for spam. But I also keep an eye out for suspect email and look at the headers, etc. and flag for deletion off the email servers.

Once done it calls my email client and I download the remaining emails.

Btw,Numecod malware abuse (posting dropbox links in e-mails) is currently the biggest problem for antivirus vendors.

Avast! In that case has a generic detection now in place to catch this polymorphic malware.

Some doubt certain protocols, like here: https://sockpuppet.org/blog/2015/01/15/against-dnssec/
More than one vision in the world, like now FTC urging firms to enroll DMARC against PHISHING.

See:

P.S. Just for the fun of it, this sockpuppet contribution on the DNS backbone: https://sockpuppet.org/blog/2016/10/27/14-dns-nerds-dont-control-the-internet/

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
