about a week ago i've formatted the hd and installed windows 2000 professional.
i'm using sygate personal firewall and installed avast home.

today, viewing a process ftp from my computer to another one, i've tryed another av (trial).

i'm disappointed too when i discover i was infected by one backdoor (Backdoor.BotGetFtpB.Gen).
I thought i was secure using avast home, i also advised it to all my contacts!

details
name: Backdoor.BotGetFtpB.Gen (BD-Engine)
path: c:\winnt\system32
filename: "bios.rom" and "i"

if the home version do not protect from this kinds of virus, why i've to use it?

The Home version protects you as the same as the Professional.
Look:
1. Are you sure your system were not infected before installing avast?
2. Did you allow the boot time scanning just after installing?
3. Which is your sensitivity level on Standard Shield provider?
