Does avast have a messenger service that tells you if you have a virus? lately a window pops up that is titled messenger service and says I have a virus.

Nope, nothing like that.

Well, it actually does support sending of virus alerts via MSN messenger, but you'd have to set it up (which you probably haven't).


A screenshot would tell us more..

If its the windows messenger (basic style dialog box) :

1.If your on a network it could be administrator or someone warning   you or having a laugh.

2.If whilst on net, probably and spoof message to worry you, they usually advertise something.

The message can be turned off see this article, the message service isnt needed unless admin says so (at work):
