I installed Comodo Personal Firewall instead!

HELP:

1) Why does Windows Security Centre not recognise the firewall? I get that "you computer is at risk message".

2) Every time I boot up the computer, once i get to the desk top the comodo launch pad always appears. How can I stop it from appearing?

1)You'll have to tell the security center that you have a firewall that you'll monitor yourself.Comodo isn't the only firewall that isn't recongised by the security center.
2) Not that I'm aware of.  EDIT: Thanks for that info Turkey.

Probably because it's a new firewall, even though Windows Security Center doesn't recongized Comodo doesn't mean that Comodo isn't protecting you.

Thanks Turkey problem solved :)

I have one more problem, I connect to the Internet through AOL, I have allowed AOL full access, when comondo forewall asks me for permission.

But still every time I connect with AOL, I get asked for permission by the firewall. How can I get comondo to remember to allow AOL.

In zone alarm free you could tick the box and click allow!

Hi,

I've used Jetico since last May.
JPF is working with avast! very well.
The OS is Windows XP Home SP2.

I'm currently using Zone Alarm Free but would like to switch to either Comodo or Jetico.

For those that have used both, do you prefer one over the other?

Hello,if you try jetico be prepared for lots of popups. It is only doing what its designed to do.http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=121009 This link will help you understand/configure jetico.
Comodo is working on version 2 of their firewall which is supposed to do better than it did in the leaktests.

Thanks timcan,

Jetico is installed and running with no obvious conflicts with avast!.  The one part that was a little different was setting up access to the avast! update servers.  There are so many servers I ended up telling Jetico the handle avast! as a browser - otherwise I have the impression I would have needed a rule for each ip address and, since those might change in the future, I saw no guarantee I would get future updates.  Maybe after some additional reading a better method will present itself.

I installed Netveda firewall in replace of Zone Alarm, but seeing these results it looks like I made a mistake in switching to Netveda.

I tried Comodo but I completely lost all internet connection even when the applications were allowed.  But, i'll try it again when the new versions out.  Comodo looks so promising for the future.

Hello,if you try jetico be prepared for lots of popups.

Truer words have never been spoken (or typed).

I installed Jetico on a multi-user pc and now realize it is not the right firewall for that situation -  not when I'm the only user willing to work with it.  It seems like a good program with lots of potential, but its not for impatient people.

I'm trying Comodo on another pc now on timcan's recommendation.  Haven't had any connectivity problems even though ZA Free is just turned off (not uninstalled).

Starting to wonder, too, if this all makes sense based on a single set of tests.

Hi,

Comodo have just released version 2 of their firewall with improved defence against these tests and XP security centre integration.  They also have there own test which only Comodo passes with its default settings.  Does yours pass?  Try it below:
