Avast stops Steamgames from starting
« on: March 12, 2017, 10:09:58 PM »
The newest Avast update (17.2.2288) stops most of my steam-games mid start.
Has anyone a solution for this problem that lets me keep avast.

Also: I uninstalled it to see if that worked and surprise, all my games worked perfectly.
So the problem must be with avast.

My grandson is playing Steam games with Avast Internet Security v17.2.2288 without issues.  So far, he has played 11 different games.  The problem isn't necessarily Avast, but perhaps a conflict between Avast, Steam and something else on your computer.

Common to both: Avast Premium Security 19.7.2388, WinPatrol Plus, SpywareBlaster 5.5, Opera 12.18, Firefox 68.0.2, MBam Free, CCleaner

Possible. The issues started after the update though (i use avast since roughly a year and haven't had any issues so far), and i haven't installed any new software lately.
If there are known issues between steam avast and something else, i'd love to know about them.

Running any other security software? Those are the usual suspects.

Hi, disable the behavior shield or set an exclusion.

FWIW, we didn't have to disable the Behavior Shield. But, if that's what works for you, all well and good. ;D
