Firewall blocks my email

I'm running windows 10 and the latest free Avast. When i am not able to connect to my email server at www.xtramail.co.nz using both Mozilla and Chrome
However when i disable the firewall i am now able to access my email provider.

I'll also add that i am not computer savvy. We were able to determine the problem by my service provider accessing my pc by remote
Any thoughts

try turn off port scan

Avast UI -> Protection -> Firewall -> Settings -> Advanced -> Uncheck "Enable automatic port scan detection"

Does that work?

Thankyou that does work. Does my firewall still have the same protection with the port disabled

Enable automatic port scan detection means that the firewall detects port scan attempts. This is a common technique among hackers used to identify devices on a network. If a port scan is detected, the offending IP address is blacklisted and all communication with that IP is blocked.

Ideally you should keep it enabled BUT[/b ]because there is currently a bug with the port scan detection feature of the Firewall, it will cause issues to some while enabled. Await the next program update which should fix the bug.

The fix is currently being tested as far as I know.
