Please, be calm, avast! works perfectly and does its part of the job...
How could you have 663 infected files?
Why after all you are complaint with avast! which, anyway, caught the virus files?

Could you answer raman's question?  ;)

Any error messages? Can you extract the files (in contrast to 'restore')?

What kind of files did you move to the chest? Give me some examples of file names. Are they all EXE files?

Given the big count of files reported as infected, it's really very likely that these files really are infected (i.e. no false alarms, no kidding). I mean, the fact the you programmed the programs doesn't necessarily mean they're clean -- they can be very welll infected (every average virus can infect arbitrary program, no matter whether it's MS Word or your home-made DVD database...).

I'm sorry but that's the way it is -- now let's concentrate on how to remove the beast...

No error messages.

I click on a file, hit restore, then it automaticly refreshes the list of infected files, and guess what, the file i just tryed to restore is still there in the chest!!!

The restored files do stay in the chest! That's a feature!
They're just copied back to their original location -- are you saying that they're not in your case?

Well first off, the virus chest file is 2.47 gigs large.  i need that hard drive space back.  Also, now some of my programs dont work.  Some of the icons are not displayed properly for some of my programs.  And, all of my system resotre points are gone.

According to the Symantec online virus encyclopaedia http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.jeefo.html all files infected by this virus increased by 36,352 bytes in size (including your own programs).

I understand that you want the files back -- but realize that once you activate any single one of them, the infection will come again...

Please stop blaming avast -- there is not much we can do about the fact that your 633 files were infected even before you installed it... :-\
