real time - avast preventing please help
« on: March 13, 2006, 01:52:38 PM »
Hi,

I have encountered a small problem lately:

I open the stocks real time internet page everyday and I refresh it to see the stocks real time.  I could receive the information and do the refreshing before but since the last 3 days avast won't let me, so i turn off avast each time and refresh, and this is difficult.  Sb told me after the last avast upgrade, it might not let me now...

Could you help me on how i can solve this problem?  Can I customize so that I receive this realtime information?

Thank you so much
Duygu

Firstly avast doesn't do blocking, firewalls usually do that or a combination of things, but avast has no blocking function built into the program.

What is your OS ?
What is your browser ?
What is your firewall ?

Are you able to browse other web sites ?
Is this stock info on a secure page, e.g. https: ?
How do you access the page, log in through http: page and redirected to https: page ?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Duygu,
you might try to enter the stock page URL into the WebShield exclusion list. This will prevent it from scanning the downloads from this page and might solve your problems. During scanning avast may change the flow of data, merge several chunks together or split larger chunks into smaller ones and that may sometimes cause problems with non-HTTP traffic on HTTP link. I assume the your stock monitoring app is in JAVA running inside your browser. These beasts sometimes use the HTTP port (80) to transfer non HTTP data and that may cause problems you describe.

Cheers,
Lukas
