Speed is 20 times slower with VPN
« on: March 20, 2017, 12:16:33 PM »
I have opened a ticket about this problem, but only get the answer that one can expect slower speed when connected to Secureline.
This is the measure I get when testing as I was told to do:
Disconnected from Secureline:   110 mbps /27.88 mbps.
Connected to Secureline         :        3.62 mbps /9.04 mbps.
(this was connected to Amsterdam, I also tried Miami which was almost the same (4.10 /8.19)

I have tried to repair the installation of Secureline.
This didnt help,
so I uninstalled and reinstalled (following the instructions on the website)
This didnt help either.
And I have tried to disconnect from the firewall, – no difference.

I get the impression that support from Avast has stopped altogether.
A couple of weeks ago I had another problem, called the support and I had
the same experience as this guy tells about:  https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/beware-of-avast-customer-support-641124/
He did pay, I luckily refused to pay and found that it could be very, very easily fixed by myself in 10 minutes and I saved 100 $.

Avast used to be trustworthy....

Ole

Anytime you are using a VPN, you will see less bandwidth as well as higher latency.

The speed you get is mostly dependent on the available bandwidth at the VPN server you connect to. Try different servers to see which provides the best throughput to your location.
