Issue with Skype and AVAST

Last week I was able to use Skype fine and have AVAST enabled. Within a few days of a AVAST update, Skype kept freezing when launching and stated that it could not connect to the internet. The next few days I was successfully able to login into Skype then the issue appeared again. Today after waiting to see if the issue would resolve itself again, I finally contacted Skype's customer service. The agent and I went through a remote desktop session to resolve the issue including deleting the files associated with Skype, reinstalling, and finally downgrading. None of these steps worked and the final method we tried was to disable AVAST. Once this was done I was able to login to Skype fine and use it like normal. I have not changed any of the settings in AVAST recently that would have caused it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to get Skype and AVAST both working.
