I have repaired, I have tried to register again, to no avail because that's when I get the error message.
I also have a new addition to my task bar called Avast Secure Line which is also off and I can't get it to connect because it says I'm offline, which I'm not.
When I click on Manage Accounts, it says Unecpected Error..An unexpected error occurred on the server, we are working on the solution.

My pc is unprotected right now.
This has been going on for a while.

Perform a clean installation and see if it solves the problem.
If not follow these instructions > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14433.0

I found out that the instructions in your link don't remove avast (and other av's) completely.
After using the tool(s), rebooting and such I checked things and it turns out that there where many "leftovers".
Folder, files and registry entries.

After digging in deeper it turns out that uninstalling avast through the control center and running the avast removal tool, there are a lot of thing left.
Especially if you have at one time installed avast and updated it to newer version.
On my system there where not only some folders and files left but also over 800! registry entries.
I for sure say that the uninstall/removal instructions that you and avast provide really suck big time.

I would really like to see that you provide instructions on how to really remove everything.

The instructions I provide remove as much as can be removed of Avast without digging into the registry.
What's left doesn't interfere with a clean install or changing to another AV.

Although the leftovers might not interfere and/or do not cause any problems with a new install of avast (or any other av), I (and many others) would like to keep our system(s) as clean as possible.

Your instructions do not "remove as much as can be removed of avast without digging into the registry."
They do not remove all folders/files from (previous versions) of avast.

As (I think) you know that leftovers of removed applications are polluting a system and slowing it down and that is not what people want.
If people choose to remove a application through the control panel and/or use the removal tool from the developer, they expect that really everything is removed.
I believe that if you would provide information on how to remove everything (more) will be appreciated by a lot of people.
Even telling what folder/file/registry entries that can be left would/could already help people in my opinion.

"My Instructions" are the tools supplied by Avast.  We've asked Avast to enhance their removal tool.
Ultimately any deeper cleanup that would be safe for the average user needs to come from Avast.
I don't work for Avast but simply use their product just like you. :)
