Problem: when booting, my pc with W7 SP1 comes up with a screen which let me choose between:
1. using W7 as operating system
2. using AvastClear Uninstall
How can I get back to a normal boot, without the AvastClear message?

Here's what happened.
Due to BSOD after version 17.0, I uninstalled Avast free antivirus, using the control panel. Next, I executed the AvastClear tool in safe mode. After the new version of Av antivirus was released, I install Avast free antivirus.
Since then, every boot comes up with Windows Boot Management screen, which only stays on the screen for 1 second and then the pc boots normally. Choosing option 2 seems to give no effect. Even re-uninstalling, running AvastClear again and then re-installing Avast antivirus doesn't take away this issue.

What could be the cause? How to 'repair'?

Have you tried running msconfig to check what's listed for your boot order ???

Ah, good point. Indeed: Windows7 first, and Avast Clear 2nd (in safe mode). There I could remove Avast Clear. Thanks for helping.
