A day or two ago I registered for and installed PalTalk (the free version) at the recommendation of a friend, who can't get ICQ to run properly on her system.
It's not one of the "standard" IM's recognized by your IM provider, and I'm open to suggestions as to setup configuration for the latter.
It's quite similar to ICQ in appearance, and includes file-sending ability, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn its technology is under license to them from ICQ/AOL.
Anyone have experience with PalTalk and can offer suggestions? Or should I just cross my fingers and assume (probably reasonably) that the General provider plus standard IM provider setup will probably cover most potential problems?
