So if I want to custom install (like I did with the version before this one) I should download the offline package, uninstall then custom install? Just want to make sure. Thanks.

I noticed that I got an apple update for ITunes notification in Windows saying there is an update version 12.6, however Avast is saying that 12.5.5 5 is the latest and all my software is up-to-date.

Any reason for this discrepancy?

Thanks for the update but i have noticed a bug, soon as i turn my pc on from a cold boot i.e.... Plugging in the plug into a plug socket and then turning my pc on, soon as i get into my desktop if i right click on any file and then choose scan with avast nothing appears infact the arrow cursor just spins and sometimes crashes explorer.exe if I retry to right click scan with avast again. It's like if i wait for for a few minutes avast works fine right click with avast runs as it should. Don't know why it's doing this. Tried this on 3 pcs issue is there on all machines

Also the other bug others have mentioned regarding quick scan is present on all three of my pcs too

Hi,
what's your OS? could you please send us the logs as described here https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB33

I have done as you said, avast support tool didnt find any issue. My OS windows 10 i am running avast free. I dont see the point of sending a ticket as the support tool didnt find anything. This issue is present on 3 pc's I have tested it on two laptops does the same thing. Last time i told a bug here it was verfied and the people here just informed the avast dev team and they sorted it out the next update. You can test this bug your self, turn ur pc on from cold boot then soon as it goes on to ur desktop try right clicking and scan on any file.  And you can see the issue from there.

Your update caused irreparable damage to my operating system, I'm running Window 10 Pro. Restore does not fix it, rollback didn't, it's a HP Omen.

Essentially yes.

However, since there aren't any major changes, newly added components, but some changes, then you could get away with doing a program update from the avastUI as it should honour your existing settings and components.

I appreciate if you want to make sure, yes do the custom install, but if you choose to do that don't uninstall your existing avast version or you could lose some of your settings. You can of course Backup your settings and then Restore settings.

Okay, I'll simply custom install over what I have. Thanks.

Yes.
Thanks, I haven't performed a smartscan yet with this latest version of Avast and was worried that I may have issues with the repeating scan as has been reported here.

You're welcome. The smartscan issue is a known bug.

I thought that there was a different way of installing that would eradicate the bug but I must have misunderstood.

I have upgraded yesterday to AIS 17.3.2290 Build 17.3.3442.0
Since then the firewall keeps blocking my router's IP (192.168.1.1) although the IP is in the "friends" list. Also i have connection timeouts on several web pages.

When I disable the firewal, everything works fine. If I re-enable the firewall the same problems reappear after one minute or so...
