I installed the new Avast 17.3.2290 program earlier today (thank you for that) - XP SP3

I am seeing this error in Event Viewer:

"The aswblDSAgent service failed to start due to the following error. The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I have looked at 'Services' under Control Panel - the 'Startup type' is set to 'Manual' - should I change it to 'Automatic'?

I take it that this is the Behaviour Shield?

As far as I know, the behavior shield doesn't work in XP.
Since I don't use XP, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

- Hotfixes of a few non-fatal crashes (non-necessary dumps created in the log folder)
 - Avast does not recognize Cleanup license after update (fixed via UI update channel for release as well)

So this means I won't have to redownload the full off line installer ? It will just update itself to .2291 ?

I have just updated in the Avast UI from 17.3.2290 to .2291, but it was the strangest update ever :

- After I had rebooted, Avast told me my AIS license was not valid and I had to buy a new one  ??? :o
But somehow this corrected itself after a few seconds.

- Also "Real Site" was disabled, and I had to re-enable it manually from the settings menu :-\

Now everything seems to be fine, but I think later I will do a clean install to be sure.

Avast free antivirus 17.3.2290 on Windows10Home64bit and other Windows10IP.
Web Shield does not work properly.
And Version 2291 is also has same problem.

When I open OMRON router MR504DV setting page( http://192.168.241.252/  ).
The page fails to load with the following error.
a) on Firefox45.8.0esr and Firefox52.0.1
Page(sometimes without css) shows for a moment. However after that the page turn to "The connection was reset"  page.
b) on Chrome58
Page shows(sometimes without css) but not function(seems not loads js file and css). And tab loading indicator is spinning forever

Clean install after using avastclear.exe does not fix the problem.
Exclusion url (http://192.168.241.252*;http://192.168.241.252/* )does not fix the problem.
Disable Web Shield fixis the problem

ONLY SOLUTION:
Avast free antivirus 17.3.2288 does not has such problem.

Since I don't use XP, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately avast are keeping their cards close to their chest, with nothing in the changelog relating to any compatibility issue with WinXP.

Since there is nothing in the changelog and my XP installation has the behaviour shield enabled and the aswblDSAgent process is listed in the task manager. So I have to assume (I know) that it is compatible as it has been installed and appears to be running.

Thanks very much for your replies DavidR and bob3160.

DavidR - regarding my earlier comment: I have looked at 'Services' under Control Panel (for aswblDSAgent service) - the 'Startup type' is set to 'Manual' - should I change it to 'Automatic'?

What is yours set to please?

You're welcome.

I didn't make any changes to it, it is set to Manual, but it is running. Presumably (unlike yours)because my avast installation was able to start it.

I would suggest trying an avast Repair (if you haven't already tried one) - Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Avast Antivirus - Change/Uninstall - now select Repair.
