Got it at a place called: Arch Memory / A-Tech Components .. they are on Amazon.com .... each 1GB stick was $27.52 (currently) plus postage. They were original new Dell / Samsung RDRAM ... went right in and worked straight away.

I got mine from A-Tech Components on eBay - Samsung! They helped me a lot.

That's encouraging......Dell Executive Advisor told me memory upgrade might cause motherboard failure due to age of computer! One reason I'm apprehensive about trying it plus I've never worked inside a computer.

That's a good one. Dell wants to sell you a new computer. If you use proper procedures, work on a table with no carpet and touch the metal case first (unplugged), handle the memory without touching the parts or contacts, and press it in carefully until it seats.
It will usually be just fine. Every now and then mobos can have bad slots, but very rare.

Yes, I thought too that Dell won't want customers upgrading old computers.....but it's still made me afraid.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. I've bought an anti static grounding plug with wrist strap.

Hi, good day. I'm also having the issue with the UI not showing correctly on 17.3.2291 (windows XP 32 bit SP 3) I've tried everything people says here on the forums, and the issue is still there. I want to try going back to the 2288 version. Is there a way to download the offline package for it? Can I just download the online loader from filehippo and get the 2288 normally?

Thanks in advance

Good news, everyone!

New Avast Antivirus March version is here (17.3.2290). This version doesn't introduce any new features, rather fixes some of the most critical issues that appeared on the previous version.

When my win10 64 is turned on or returns from sleep AVAST decides it is a new network (cable modem-RJ45-modem always on). This would be bearable but for some unknown reason avast clears all my program specific firewall settings (why would they change?) and it is happening so often I have had to switch the AV to 'ask every time', which means I am back to 1990s nag screens on every program.

I can't take much more of this, my second year of subs has just started so I am stuck with this. Please stop beta testing on us, we are paying customers.

I am also having the same problem with the UI not showing correctly as above and have also tried all the suggestions but nothing is working thus far, so I'm looking forward to a solution, soon I hope.

Thank you

So I spend £74.00 on 3 licenses to find this software is unbelievably unstable....I can confirm the "Smart Scan" bug plus the program does not remember exclusions....which is a pain....I am running Windows 10 Creators Update RTM....I hope they update this and QUICK....I invested in this upgrading from Comodo Internet Security (Free)....I'm already questioning that decision....You have to question the safety of "Security" software that does not function correctly and is still released..*sigh*.... Also both "Smart Scan" and "Full Scan" intermittently report the scan has been cancelled at the end of scan instead of completing properly....

<snip>
"Smart Scan" and "Full Scan" intermittently report the scan has been cancelled at the end of scan instead of completing properly....

When running a quick/full scan and leaving the toaster in the corner, the scan completes successfully. However, the toaster icon says "Scan Canceled - [insert number] usually 99%".

The scan actually completes successfully but the toaster icon wrongly reports it as cancelled.

This is known bug and will be fixed when the toaster popups move to CEF.

The current BETA which was released today has moved to a newer version of CEF which must have fixed the issue.

Regarding the exclusions getting removed, that shouldn't happen... as far as I'm aware, there's no bug report for that either...

What else will this new beta address ? ? How about the Behavior Shield shutting OFF on occassion when running on XP PRO SP3 ?
Does not happen all the time, but this started after 17.3.2291 and the update to buidl 17.3.3443.0 --- only happening on XP PRO SP3 -- good so far in Windows 10 Home 64 Bit .. It was also fine in the prior 2288 / 2290 versions. This is what happens when companies go on a fast track software release schedule. Bugs creep in and are sometimes never erradicated.

I close the Avast window with the X button on the top right corner. I have to right click the icon on the taskbar and close it from there. It's really annoying.
