TR/Drop.Zlob.FK.1 Not detected by Avast
« on: March 20, 2006, 05:05:16 AM »
How come Avast does not detect anything but some of the others do?

I was scanning the  eCodec-v4.403.exe which is for playing video. Some of the thing found were Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.IG , Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.iv and TR/Drop.Zlob.FK.1

http://www.emcodec.com/?id=403

Does this mean Avast needs to be updated?

The same reason that others don't, avast is an anti-virus program and trojans may not fall into its detections and no one anti-virus will detect every virus, trojan, adware, spyware, malware, etc.

The one that surprises me more is that Ewido didn't detect it and that is a specialist trojan hunter. There are also a number of AVs with detections thought to be very good also missed it, Nod32, BitDefender, etc. 17 anti-virus programs didn't find anything two though it suspicious and only 4 detected it by signature.

If you are not getting a virus warning that you believe is a new, undetected virus, then if you can zip and password protect ('virus', will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces), or send from the chest.

Give a brief outline of the problem (possibly a link to this thread), the fact that you believe it to be a either a new, undetected virus and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
