problem with File Explorerr (2 r's) - keeps installing
« on: March 31, 2017, 01:30:32 AM »
A program called File Explorerr keeps installing itself onto my tablet, even though I've put a password on app installation voa App Locker in Avast!  At least the Avast scan now finds this app and uninstalls it.

Avast - can u please find some way to stop this app from installing itself?

Thanks!

Hi, it depends on what exactly is going on in there and why - whether the File Explorer is a system app (and thus Avast is not able to remove it), or whether there is some kind of root virus, which repeatedly installs it. Unfortunately we are not able to find out without more technical details. It would be great, if you could "extract" the app, so that our colleagues from threats lab can have a look at it. Here is a step-by-step guide how to do it:

- download to your mobile device the Apk Extractor app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui - please note that if you wish to install directly from the page you must be logged in to the same Google Account you use in your mobile device
- open the Apk Extractor app in your device
- find the desired app and tap the small "triangle like" icon in the line of the app
- a popup with "share" and "info" will appear - select "share"
- select "Gmail" - an e-mail with the attached apk of the desired app will be created
- as the recipient of the e-mail ("To" field) write android@avast.com
- as the subject please enter "Self installing File Explorer app"
- attach any further info you believe could be useful
- send the e-mail

If you wish to find the created apk in your device you can find it under "sdcard/ExtractedApks/".
