Well, there is the answer. You have changed the system date ... and now, you probably only have a 7-day trial as David stated above.    :(

No, I changed my system date.
As written before, there is an antipiracy feature to avoid using the trial time more than 60 days, what is much more than enough to evaluate the program. Very few (none) companies give such a trial period.

The program would not open. It just asked for a license key. But regardless I said if it were to happen.
What do you mean?
Did you buy avast and the key get corrupted because of the system time was rolled back?
When did you roll back? Before or after installing avast?
If you uninstall avast (Control Panel), use Avast uninstall feature, boot, install again and use the key, won't it work?

Ok. After I changed the system date, to see what would happen I set it back and I am back at where I left off. It did not subtract any days from my trial. At the moment I have 58 days.

Ok,

Just for testing I rolled my system date back to 2005. When I did this and started avast! the trial count down went up to 423 days.  So it would appear Alwil's antipiracy feature is easy to get through. I had even restarted my system with the date changed up to November 2006. It said avast! had expired. I changed the date back and rebooted now I am back to my 60 day trial which I have 58 days left. Because of my tests I could just keep the date set way back and have avast! pro for free. But like I said before I will NEVER steal from Alwil.

It simply isn't worth trying this as it could invalidate your trial and reduce it as we have mentioned.

I'm sure it isn't that easy to circumvent the process there are other checks that can leave you unable to get VPS/Program updates as was reported heavily in the forums when it was introduced. People couldn't get updates and they complained on investigation it was found some of those were using the pro version with generated or hacked registrations.

What about my suggestion to find a USA distributor who may offer a different payment option ?

It would have to be at a store because I do not trust sending cash by mail. So far I have found no USA distributer that will give me the payment option I want.

Hi,

Ok I am going to buy avast! 4 Profesional Edition! Because I decided to buy it I took off my Home Edition and put the Pro trial edition back on. Believe it or not it is giving me another 60 day trial! completely! I have no idea why but it doesn't matter because I am going to purchase avast! pro. Also does the push updates feature work with Thunderbird?

It should... as the 'starter' of the update is the avast! Internet Mail provider (or Outllok plugin) and not the email client itself...  8)
