Interaction with Comodo Firewall 10
« on: April 11, 2017, 02:22:48 PM »
Anyone else had issues with Avast and Comodo?

I've been getting a persistent "Comodo Security Agent can't be started..." error with version 10. Naturally I use Avast for Anti-Virus because I trust it.

Comodo's technical support (in broken English sadly) claimed they were aware of this issue, but their suggested fix of re-installation didn't resolve this issue.

Perhaps some in Avast's tech support could actively talk to their opposite numbers in Comodo, so that interactions between what should be seperate "security" components from different vendors  (a firewall is not an anti-virus, and an anti-virus is not a firewall) don't in future result in understandable interactions, because as an end user, I'm increasingly disappointed at the inability of what should be independent components to work nicely with each other.

avast already created a fix for it, although it is Comodo who should do so.
This is already mentioned/explained in other threads.

Information requested:

Avast -  17.3.2291 ( build 17.3..3443.0)  Virus defs: 170411-2
Comodo - 10.0.1.6209
OS 32 Bit Windows XP - Version 5.1 ( Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_qfe.130704-21: Service Pack 3)

I also have Spybot -2.4.40.0,   although my issues with Comodo and Avast interacting occurred even when this was uninstalled completely.

Link to the relevant threads, or to the relevant hot-fix?

The fix is in the avast application.

- Remove avast and comodo.
- Install avast
- Install comodo

That has worked for all others.

You have a link to the current 32 bit installer?  I'd like to keep a backup.
