Smart Scan doesn't do anything?
« on: April 12, 2017, 01:57:23 AM »
Hello. Just in need of some clarification regarding the capabilities of Smart Scan under the latest Avast Free edition.

I understand that Cleanup is included in Smart Scan, and without paying, it wouldn't erase all those unnecessary files found after scans. There are some aspects of the results, however, that doesn't seem to get fixed.

When I decide to, say, "delete redundant apps" or fix certain startup programs, it takes me to a window where I'm required to pay. Hitting Cancel would say that "I'm Protected." When I run Smart Scan again, though, I find that the startup programs are restored to default and the redundant apps are still there.

Do I also need to pay for these services? I think the tech reviews were right when they said that Avast Free tends to confuse the normal consumer on what is free and what should be paid, but then again, the free edition was able to save me from a virus that almost hijacked my browser.

If you want to use CleanUp, you need to buy a subscription for it.
If you don't want to do so, simply remove it from the installed components.
