Invalid license file.
« on: April 13, 2017, 12:39:34 AM »
Trying to recover avast from a crashed HD and am having issues with my recovered license file. I have tried inserting the file multiple ways with no success. I will not pay for 3rd party tech support when i pay for the subscription.

Thanks for the quick reply but the file i keep getting sent is the file that tells me it is an invalid license file. I have the proper software installed and followed the instructions carefully. I have even tried both methods of license installation.

1. Download Avast Pro Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Hello

What is stated about your license in your avast account ?
Is it already used by a device ?
In this case , can you delete it ? And try again inserting file.

Always in your account , have you more than "Download licence" , also "Activation code"

I had almost the same problem Here
Support avast said me to try with activation code instead of licence file and it works well

Edit:It does not take much time to check, after you can perform a clean installation as indicated by Asyn

Chris what your saying seems spot on. Since avast was installed recently to the bad machine maybe its still registered and tossing me an error on the new pc? Thanks for all the post I will try the  https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility  tomorrow when the remote machine boots up. Is it possible to get the code send instead of the license file? or did they issue you a new one in the event of your issues?

Chris just to be clear i am doing this for a customer so i don't have access to the account just yet as it is late. I do appreciate your post and your time thanks a lot and i will try this.

i myself operate from a Linux environment so i don't spend much time with Avast myself but its always #1 recommended from me.

Solved!!
Thanks to all the helped. The fix happened when I downloaded the license file from logging in and choosing the license file i wanted to use(even though there was only 1). So now that it was chosen i was able to download a correct license file and was installed no problem thanks to all that helped!    chris05 +10 I never had to run the uninstall-utility so i don't know where that was headed i had the correct software installed i was certain of that.
