A free content blocker like Adguard is all that's required for iOS https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adguard-adblock-and-privacy-protection/id1047223162?mt=8

A vpn is fine to use to encrypt your connection, Opera have a good free VPN solution for iOS that also includes ad blocking, I was using Opera for a while but it's speed is a bit slow here in Australia as their nearest server is Singapore.

Adguard has been working well for me with an abundance of filter lists that can be used, I've also just purchased the pro version which allows me to block advertising system wide and now also gives the choice of several DNS servers to use like AdguardDNS - OpenDNS - GoogleDNS etc

There is no Antivirus for iOS (Apple does not allow it). iOS malware is not unheard of but usually only an issue for those who have jailbroken their devices.

There are other Security products like the Avast Secureline VPN that are on the iOS App Store, and a VPN is never a bad idea when in a public WiFi situation  ;)
