Avast firewall blocking network shares
« on: April 13, 2017, 03:58:34 PM »
Hi Folks,

The avast firewall is blocking access to machine on my locale network. I typically access the machines via network shares, e.g. \\machinea\bla, however if the avast firewall is enabled I can no longer see these machines.

Although I have tried to find how to fix this I have been unsuccessful - any clues?

Thanks
Kendrew

Try turning off port scanning feature in firewall.  Known bug for localhost.

I tried this with no success. In my case what worked was changing the Firewall Profile. Initialy I had it on Public Network and changing it to Private Network solved the issue.

Hope it helps someone.

If it's set to public, you in essence have no internet access.
