There is a nice story how the Easterbunny came to run around with a basket full of eggs.
The original story was told by Teutonic tribes. One Lent (Spring) Ostara, the goddess of Spring and fertility, arrived rather late
and it therefore was bitterly cold. Just like it is now around mid-April here in our part of Europe.
A poor little chicken almost died and Ostara could not save the starving animal in the form of a bird for the feathers had frozen over,
so the goddess changed the chicken into a hare (in English speaking countries this hare became the Easter-bunny).
The hare at Easter remembered it had been a chicken once and used to lay eggs.
That is now why the Easter bunny still is running around with a basket full of eggs.
