Does Avast Free Mac neutralise Proton B trojan ?

Ive just read about the issue with Malware inside of handbrake for OSX - link to article on hacker news : https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14332741

I have had Avast free running on my mac (OSX 10.10.5) for years now, its set to auto update, but this morning as a pre caution i also ran a manual virus deffiniton update which added some new data.

Does Avast Free Mac neutralise the threat Proton B ?
