Behaviour shield turns off
« on: April 21, 2017, 11:54:02 AM »
I run AVAST free 17.3.2291 (build 17.3.3443.0) on Windows 7, and now and then when booting up Windows the Behaviour shield is turned off. The Avast icon shows an exclamation mark, and when I open Avast it shows the message "You're vulnerable Some shield are turned off". I turn on the Behavior Shield and everything is back to normal. This has happend to me maybe 4 or 5 times in the latest two months.

Anyone who recognize this behaviour or know how to fix it?

Perform a repair of avast and check if it solved the problem.
If not perform a clean installation of the latest avast version and check again.

This is a known problem. Avast is aware of the problem. It should be fixed when the next version is released.

As noted, Avast is aware of the problem and said that it would be fixed with release 17.6.

Shields turn off on their own.

Win XP Pro Service Pack 3
Avast AV Free Ver. 17.5.2303

Sheilds are dropping about every 5 minutes. I would not notice except for the fact that when they do drop, my browser (Firefox 52.2.1) becomes unresponsive. As soon as shields are rebooted the connection is restored.

I suggest you start your own topic since this is strictly about the Behaviour Shield which is already known by Avast.

Dear all, I have the current version [just did a check run] of 17.5.2303 (build 17.5.3585.203) and I have also occasional 'Shield' dropouts.
This does not give me confidence in using my laptop.  Can Avast provide us with any updates?

The short answer is always going to be a NO, it all depends on how the beta testing progresses.

Just want to report that I still have the same problem as above with the Behaviour shield after updating to version 17.6.2310. Seems like this is not fixed...

The fix seems to be dependent on which Windows OS, drivers and third party software is running.  I have 3 Win 7 Pro laptops(different brands) and only one has this issue.  The other 2 have never had this issue, even with earlier versions of Avast.  See https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=208223.

I've even used the Avastclear utility to completely remove Avast, restarted, and downloaded the latest program version (17.7.2314), and it's STILL doing this. I love Avast, and it's the only anti-virus I've used for the last 10 years. But this is becoming worrysome.
