That said avast 17.4.2294, AvastUI > Settings General > Status Monitoring section now has an option to report on the Behaviour Shield, which by default is off, enabling this may make you aware of it being off earlier.

The problem is that this issue isn't consistent, it happens to some but not others, which makes it more difficult to pin down the problem.

Behavior shield checkbox in "Status monitoring" does not work. When you disable Behaviour Shield, Avast always shows "!" on its amoeba even if its monitoring is set to off.

This bug is fixed in the current BETA.

OK forgot about that little wrinkle, however, I have just updated this win10 system to avast 17.4.2294 and that didn't have the status monitoring checked for the behaviour shield. So I will have to check that out to on this win10 system and my XP system which I still have 17.4.2294.

Edit: confirmed the bug as you reported.

Strange thing after enabling the behaviour shield avast is asking for a restart, something that doesn't or didn't happen for the other shields ???

As far as I am aware, the behaviour shield monitoring is disabled by default and has been since the release of V17.

I just did an full clean reinstall on the Dell 8200 XP PRO SP3 computer .. As mentioned above, the check box to monitor status of the Behavior Shield is not checked by default (same on my Toshiba Win 10 Home 64 Bit laptop) .. So if the box is not checked, then how do we know if or when the Behavior Shield is not turned on or active ? ?

My shield was off this morning and it's definitely turned on. I had to manually restart the shield.

If it's the same as mine you'll see an exclamation mark on the system tray icon, that is if you've set it to show there.

The real question is why would Avast default to Not Monitoring the Behavior Shield when it does an installation ? ?
I have now turned it to Monitor on the Toshiba and will do so on the Dell in the morning.

I have installed the new version, and it cut me the access to Internet due to the agresivity of the program against the router that my provider of the Internet services gave me. I can't access to Internet now.

I have a code what I have to activate until 2017.06.01
I wouldn’t like to install the Avast Internet Security yet, I have no time to to reinstall the Windows on my computer.
Would I be able to get a licence file if I present this Code?

Not sure where to post this, but my Avast Premier shows (UI > Protection) Home Network Security instead of Wi-Fi Inspector, as seen from the Installer / Components setting page.

This was a clean installation of Avast Premier 17.4.2294 (build 17.4.3482.0) on 3rd May 2017.

Any issue with running your wifi inspector?  AIS shows what you might expect, maybe Premier is just different?

It certainly needs a common name as both of those aren't really the same 'Home Network Security' would include wired, wi-fi and possibly bluetooth connections. But for the most part it is only wi-fi that would appear to have any checks made.

I agree it does need a common name, as previously was named Home network scanner or something like that I forget now,  now shows Wifi Inspector in all the free builds I use.

Overall the newer 17 version runs well these days, besides the slow opening GUI at times, and the opening of the whole gui for one quick scan, otherwise i'm totally happy with this years version of Avast

Behaviour Shield being disabled again, I've just performed a repair of the product so will report back if it occurs again after repairing.
