help with the check file function
« on: April 05, 2006, 04:16:13 PM »
I apologize for the trouble. but I have a little doubt and a search in the forum didn't help me. Sorry.
After I download a file from the net, before opening it I like to check it with the Antivirus software. i don't know how it's called in english but to check it I rightclick on it and choose "check with....." there are two option, to scan it with Avast and with Ewido. Usually I do both but while Ewido opens a screen to let me see how many files were scanned and the result, Avast open a window with the Awil logo, scan the file (usually very fast) but not let me see the results. this window just closes itself. is it normal? If a file is infected will the window stay open and tell me the file is not safe? Thanks!

Hi,

It really is no trouble at all.

If you want Avast to display information after this scan go to your Program Settings and under the common tab tick the box next to Show results of Explorer Extension.

I believe even with this unticked Avast will display a message if a virus is found.

Hope this helps  ;),

Mike
