Avast Spyware
« on: March 28, 2006, 11:55:02 PM »
If I had one wish, it would be that Avast put out an anti-spyware program in addition to its awesome anti-virus program.  I know there must be others that agree.  I hope one day soon there may be!  I also think Avast should have their own email server like Google Mail does, and possibly even a chat client attatched and dare I suggest an ISP service?  Sorry, I just really trust them and think they should push forward with other much needed programs that XP users need.  You can never have enough of a good thing!!

Welcome to the forums, wisdom1961.    :)

Well, I think there may be other here who would agree with me when I state that ......

"If you have too much of a good thing, you become bloated!"    ;)    ;D

There are many good anti-spyware tools that are specialists in there field and there are many god free ones, I certainly wouldn't want to see avast dilute their expertise by adding anti-spyware; or become like one of the other bloated suites, that attempt to be Jack of all Trades, Master of None. I also don't like carrying all my eggs in one basket as an exploit on one element could effect/bypass everything.

My personal feeling is that you can chose the best in a class or certainly the one that suite you best, not what one providers thinks is best for you. This is feeling is often supported in the forums.

If you haven't already got this software (freeware), download, install, it provides good levels of protection, there are others.
1. Ad-Aware
2. Spybot Search and Destroy
3. Spywareblaster Don't install this until you are clean.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Hi,

An antispyware program would be nice but if they were to make one it would most likely not be free IMO. Also some time ago I e-mailed Alwil and asked them a few questions and one of them was "Is Alwil currently working on any more products to run along with avast! antivirus?" the reply was "Yes, Alwil is currently working on more products, so we have a few suprises coming." But that was last year  :-\.

Justin, as far I know, it was NOT an antispyware.
I'm the first to beg Alwil team to add spyware detection... I fully defend antivirus + antispyware in the same application.
