Avast GUI too big
« on: May 18, 2017, 12:42:02 AM »
I recently updated from v12.3.2279 to v17.3.2291. The GUI on 2291 almost fills my entire screen. Does the current version have the same large GUI? Is there a reason it needs to be so big?

I too often close my browser by accident instead of Avast, when Avast is open.

It is a known problem.
Think the GUI needs 1024x768 now.

b.t.w. You are using a old(er) avast version.

Join the long list of people that think the UI is too bloody big, for what the home screen of the UI contains there is masses of empty space and it can't be resized. Even worse it can't be moved out of the way on a larger screen as the location isn't saved, the next time it opens it is in your face centre screen.

Welcome to the long list of Avast users who think the Avast GUI is tooo big ... and whose opinion has been totally disregarded by Avast developers.

The GUI is not going to change in terms of size.

They've made it fit the screen if the screen resolution is low. You will not be able to resize the UI, however, you can resize the settings part of the UI.

I just can't understand the intransigence of avast about the UI size.  Why aren't Avast prepared to say why the UI needs to so blood big when it is virtually empty, rather than say nothing or just say no. Making it fit the screen, seems such a complex way to go about this, when allowing the users to resize it to meet their needs

Generally I couldn't care less about aesthetics, but this really is a pain in the backside. Large is just one issue being in your face centre screen every time you open it is even worse. Roll on Avast 2018 in the hope that small is the new big.

Boy do I miss the 4.x skinable UI when there were many options on UI layout and size. I used what was the smallest available at the time.
