product key
« on: April 03, 2006, 01:27:10 AM »
Can someone help me get the product key?  I'm trying to update my home edition but when it asks me to re type they letters it doesn't take them; says it's wrong. I'm typing exactly what I see. What am I doing wrong?

It will probably be best to cut and paste the key from the email into the window, ensure that you don't copy a space after the key.

Did you complete the form details above the code entry window ?

You didn't say what letters you entered, so I don't know if they were entered correctly ?
The letters in the image you posted were YUO, or that is what I thought they were.

You might not have identified the letters in the image correctly, you can click on the 'click here' if you can't read the letters correctly, this will display another page with different letters.

Justin, whilst this would be helpful, the user has to make a declaration that they qualify and you can't do that on their behalf.

Seems that David is right... other fields above are not filled correctly.
By the way, if you suspect the word is not what you're reading, click the option If you can't read the leters above, click here to change the text.

You are right, would it be ok if I were to ask him if he understands this and agrees? I have already sent him an e-mail saying this and given him a quote from what Alwil considers home non commercial use.

From another post, there might be a problem with the regular registration page. Please see the post below to see how cher was able to register.

I can confirm it too. It is not the problem in not filling out other fields, or mistyping those 3 characters... I just tried to re-register my friend for Home Edition and I wasn't able no matter what I tried. I filled in every single field, even though not all of them are required, but I filled them all... still nothing. You always get a red tag at the bottom saying that you didn't enter those stupid 3 letter properly, which isn't true of course.

I solved my problem by simply going to the SSL version and registered her in there without any problems. Link is here:

Hi,

I just registered myself (even though I use pro) to test. I registered just fine! I don't understand what the problem is, maybe it's because I put in the 3 letter code as CAPS, no I didn't use spaces just typed in the code using caps.

EDIT

Oh and I just recieved the key ;)

Actually I never tried small letters, just because all codes are in caps anyway. It has nothing to do with what kind of letters you are trying to enter... what I believe it has a lot to do with (maybe) poorly created page, and also with different types of internet connection. Firewalls too ? Who knows... Why is it working with SSL, I have no clue...

Hmm, I have never had a problem but I have upgraded to Pro so really I will probly not go back to Home, Pro is so nice ;), Sasha maybe you are right maybe it has something to do with connection, or maybe Alwil made a bug when they made the page. But if it is working with the SSL page people can register there until/if we hear from Alwil. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, if people send me an e-mail I will register them as long as they include in their PM that they agree to use this program for free non commercial use only and they must sign their name at the end of the e-mail. Otherwise I will do nothing.
