Hi all....

OK! It happened again and I was able to save the error message:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'rgletters@guardnet.com'. Subject 'Letter to the Editor...', Account: 'pop.efn.org', Server: 'mailhost.efn.org', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 <rgletters@guardnet.com>: Relay access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Somehow Avast plays a role in this because this never happens when Avast is not installed. And again, this only happens when I click on a link on a web page, never from the main program.

Best Regards...

Hi tech...

Thanks for the link :) I took a look around and mostly the issue revolves around authentication and SSL which my ISP does not require. However, I did see a post at Castlecops where an individual had both Microsoft Outlook 2000 and OE 6 installed at the same time, as I do. Yet, this person was using his copy of Outlook (not OE) where as mine is not even configured. I don't even touch it. Still, I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Best regards...

I know you've already done but, please, put the line
Log=20
into the file avast4.ini under [MailScanner] section to get a detailed logging and then stop & start 'Internet Mail' provider, send and receive mails, etc.
After all send the log file Avast4\DATA\log\aswMaiSv.log by mail to Vojtech.
Maybe we can know a little more...

Hi Tech,

No, now that I think about it, that wasn't it. I had both installed when I used AntiVir and the problem didn't exist.
Oh, well...

What do you mean?
Are you using Antivir guard (resident) or scanning emails with it (plugin)?

Hi tech...

Ok, did that....do you want the log now or let it build up for a few days so there is more information?

In answer to your question: No, no....this was last year that I was talking about concerning AntiVir. Now I use (full program) Avast 4.6. I do not use any other antivirus program on my system.

Hi tech...

Now see more of what you meant. I was referring to both of us having Outlook 2000 and OE 6 installed at the same time.

It shouldn't be a problem... anyway, which one do you use?
Enable only the one you need and test to see if it works.

Trying to send and receive one or more emails, with and without attachments would be enough I think...

Hi tech...

I use Outlook Express strictly....I don't even touch Outlook 2000. Outlook Express is configured as the default.

So, uninstall the Outlook/Exchange plugin through Control Panel.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Change function and uncheck the plugin at left. You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install (customized, without the plugin) / boot again

??? How would the Outlook plug-in cause the error messages I've been getting? I don't think even OE uses it.

The Outlook/Exchange plugin is going to do nothing ... not work ... not play a role if Outlook 2000 is being used.
